PROPOSED PROJECT NAME:

Filming Projects - Our students as "Protagonists" towards their Personal and Linguistic Development in an EFL context"

SUMMARY / BRIEF DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE PROPOSED PROJECT

The whole project is strongly based on groupwork in an attempt to eliminate "Knowledge or physical disabilities, to bridge all gaps among mixed-ability learners, to enhance English and Art in syllabuses, to stimulate both teachers and learners of English. Each participating school decides on the film or T.V commercial (usually a funny one) they want to make being facilitated by the teacher -coordinator. EFL teacher can help in simplifying the language (that is the lines) in case there are students who do not feel safe with their level of competency or proficiency in the English language. What are needed is a camera, imagination and spirit. Not to forget to mention that in some countries parental permission for the filming in class may be obligatory. Our own idea focuses on the famous film "The Titanic" and a few commercials against consumerism. You only need: a video camera, some accessories, a kind of setting and appropriate guidance.

RATIONALE FOR THE PROJECT:

"Filming is not about the tiny details. It's about the Big Picture!!" In the "Ed Wood", a comedic fiction film, 1994 "In performing..., the performers {have} the benefit of some kind of learning- not necessarily linguistic.." B.Dendrinos, 1992 :138 "Young (children) respond more readily and intuitively to language acquisition in social and communicative situations" H.H.Stern, 1983:367 "....to weave variety into lessons for the benefit of the students..." T.Woodward (1996) in the Recipe Book In other words, to help European and Asian students develop their social skills, to break the school routine, to enhance holistic learning, to create a challenging and communicative class environment, to enlarge interpersonal relations, to be acquainted with multiculturalism.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTION FROM THE ASIAN SCHOOLS/STUDENTS:

To make their own version of Titanic and/ or T.V commercials which can be presented in the partners' schools during a week called " Filming week"

Journal #11

At this time, we are editing the videos we have taken during our visit in The School for the Blind. We have decided to focus the School for the blind for our filming project. Last week, we went to take videos in the said school with the teachers and students as well exchanging answers with us. As expected, they gave us warmth reply for whatever questions we had prepared. It is such an unforgettable experience for us! God bless!

A blessed day! Today we create a script or questions needed in our interview for the teachers and students when we will have our visit in the School for the Blind. We also fixed the schedules we have to follow.

February 17, 2009

Last February 13, we started taking videos and pictures along with different children for our documentation. And we finalized our plans for the sequence of the scenes for our documentary as well as organizing the steps in accomplishing the project.

February 12, 2009

Thank God it's Thursday! This day we are on a process of planning what would be the possible title and topics that we are going to articulate in our Documentation about the Filming project. This is after we had asked permission to Ma'am Foteini Veneti (our coordinator) if it is possible perhaps for us to have a Documentation rather than a commercial. We are excited and doing fun on evaluating every steps needed to accomplish in this said project. God bless!

On this day, we had a brain storming about on what would be the topic of the film that we will be making for this project. We also have to clarify something on the said matter with our coordinator so, the idea to be use in the film was not yet finalized. So, in order to come up with something, we prepared two plans just to be sure if the first one will not work.
